A chemical peel is a skin-smoothing procedure using a exfoliating chemical to remove the top layer of the skin. There are three categories of chemical peels bases on how deeply the chemical permeates the skin. Each can help with a variety of skin conditions. The type and depth of chemical peel administered will depend on your skin type, concern, Fitzpatrick type, and skincare habits. Using recommended skincare products and a series of 3 or 4 every 3-4 weeks is recommended for optimal results.
A peel is designed to exfoliate the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new skin layer with improved tone, texture, and clarity. They are an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles, uneven skin pigmentation, and acne. This treatment can easily be coupled with dermaplaning.
Pre-Peel
CLEANSE, EXFOLIATE AND TONE minimizes excess oil and removes dead skin cells but improves peel absorption.
PREPARE the skin with Glycolic Acid and SPF protection.
AVOID facial scrubs, waxing, bleaching, microdermabrasion, laser hair removal and topical retinoids for at least 1 week before a chemical peel to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Post-Peel
PROTECT AND HYDRATE. Replenish the post-peel with moisture-rich broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF30+.
APPLY a protective ointment and/or ice packs to soothe the skin.
AVOID facial scrubs, abrasives, picking at the peeling skin, steam inhalation therapy, and exfoliating creams.
