Something That Works

Tired of trying to cover up your acne scars? You can still see them, and so can everyone else. It’s embarrassing. Now there is something that works—microneedling treats acne scars.

Also known as skin-needling and dermarolling, microneedling is a minimally invasive skin resurfacing procedure that uses tiny needles to cause skin punctures. These punctures become controlled wounds that tell your skin to focus on healing and building new collagen.

Collagen helps to reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars and acts as a filler to smooth the skin around scars. Skin needling works best on depressed or pitted scarring.

The Procedure Itself And Side Effects

It’s important to talk with Vitalize Medical & Aesthetics prior to having microneedling to be sure it is right for you. Once approved, a thorough cleaning will be performed and then a numbing cream will be applied on the area to be treated. The most you will feel is a bit of a tingling sensation.

After the treatment, expect some redness and swelling for a few days along with some minor bruising. Many patients return to work within a day.

Keep the area clean and stay out of sunlight. Drink plenty of water before and after the treatment to reduce bruising.

Those with moderate acne scars may require 3 or 4 treatments waiting 6 weeks between procedures.

Not Just Acne Scars

In addition to helping reduce the signs of acne scars, microneedling is also beneficial when used for the following skin problems:

  • Burn scars
  • Sun damage
  • Stretch marks
  • Sagging skin
  • Large pores
  • Surgical scars

If you are tired of looking in the mirror everyday at your old acne scars, maybe it’s time to consider microneedling.

Contact Vitalize Medical & Aesthetics at (585) 287-5299 for a consultation to determine if microneedling can treat your acne scars.
